Welcome to the next generation of digital SLR photography-the Canon EOS 40D. The EOS 40D combines Canon's tremendous know-how in both the digital and photographic worlds, creating a camera that not only does everything one would expect of a traditional digital SLR, but one that incorporates staggering leaps forward in technological innovation. With new features like Canon's EOS Integrated Cleaning System, Live View Function, a more powerful DIGIC III Image Processor, plus a 10.1-megapixel CMOS sensor, a 3.0-inch LCD monitor and more, the EOS 40D elevates digital photography to new heights, enhancing the shooting experience, and delivering images one could only expect from a Canon.
Canon EF 70-200 f 4L IS USM
The EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM is a lightweight, compact L Series telephoto zoom lens with Image Stabilizer. The optical Image Stabilization in the new EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM lens provides up to an incredible four stops of shake correction-a first for Canon IS lenses. The use of fluorite UD lens elements provides excellent optical performance in terms of resolution and contrast. These features, together with its water-and dust-proof construction, provide both the performance and portability to meet user demands.
Canon EF 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 USM
Ultra-wide zoom lens with a high zoom ratio. By having multiple lens groups move during zooming, the lens could be made compact and lightweight. The aspherical element suppresses distortion. High contrast is maintained at all focal lengths and sharp images are obtained.
Sigma 50mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro
Sigma launched first standard 50mm Macro lens in 1990. This was succeeded by the 50mm F2.8 EX Macro in 1998 which proved even more popular with photographers, benefiting from improved build and optical quality.
The advent of digital SLR's requires optimum lens performance and therefore the very latest optical technology has been incorporated in the production of the New Macro 50mm F2.8 EX DG. This ideal standard lens sets the benchmark for digital SLR cameras.
Canon SpeedLite 580EX II
Further development of Canon's flagship Speedlite has led to the production of the 580 EX II. This is the premier Speedlite for all photographers, including professionals. Newly designed to match with the EOS-1D Mark III in terms of improved dust- and water-resistance, body strength, and the ability to control flash functions and settings from the camera menu (EOS-1D Mark III only). Other features include improved communication reliability through its direct contacts, and recycling time is both 20% shorter than the 580EX and is completely inaudible.
Saulute-Flash
Saulutė (Daisy in Lithuanian) electronic flashes were made by the V.I. Lenin Calculating Machines Factory of Vilnius in Soviet Socialistic Lithuanian Republic. Two types were marketed in 1970s-1980s.
The Saulutė was a simple flash unit similar to the popular FIL-41, Foton or Chaika-2 flashes - it was powered with 220 V AC mains, used an U-shaped tube giving it a guide number of 19 m for 100 ASA film (16 m for 65 GOST) and lighting angle of 60 degrees; it could be synchronized by both the hot shoe or a fixed sync cord. The flash had dimensions 73x50x88 mm and weighted 300 g. Two variants of the Saulutė existed - one had a rotating calculator for establishing the correct exposure, the other - a simple chart.
The Saulutė-2 was a more advanced construction - its head could be rotated up to 90 degrees to the sides or 60 degrees upwards. The flash was powered by 220 V AC mains (or a 300 V DC battery power pack), had a guide number of 21 m for 100 ASA (18 m for 65 GOST) and lighting angle of 50 degrees. It was synchronized by a hot shoe. The flash had dimensions of 71х57х179 mm and was 400 g heavy.
